Welcome to our Influences/Recommended Reading page. This page will be a work-in-progress for us as we list and possibly write a brief description of the books we have in our library. We start with art books for painters and as we go we'll list books we use for reference. It's all good.

 For those learning to paint or just put better skills to their canvas, the top of the list, Edgar Payne, Composition of Outdoor Painting. This book is a must in every landscape painters' library. Many great illustrations showing pitfalls and how to correct them are pictured. |

 Next is Carlson's Guide to Landscape Painting by John F Carlson. Many good points in this book and with general themes and approach to picture making. |

 The Artist's Handbook by Ralph Mayer addresses all your technical questions regarding art materials; paints, solvents, surfaces, conservation etc. An encyclopedia for artists. It may be old school in thinking I'd need a book when there's the internet, but that's me. |

 The Art Spirit by Robert Henri offers the insight of painting, teaching, observing and mental discipline in his book. Paperback, no pictures. |

 Hawthorne on Painting; Collected by Mrs Charles Hawthorne is a collection of notes and critiques by different students of Charles Hawthorne. The more you paint and learn, the more revealing this book becomes. |

 Composition- Understanding Line, Notan and Color by Arthur Wesley Dow offers a cogent approach to design. |
