Ray painted a view from a cliff overlooking the ocean in Laguna Beach, Ca. He did a beautiful demonstration of how to paint water and waves crashing over rocks. The lesson covered reflective light and disappearing shadows when there's reflective skylight on water (comparing water to glass). He quoted master painter, Dan McCaw, "Sunlight harmonizes everything" when discussing colors relating to each other and simultaneous contrast. I've added a few progress images below.
